For awesome social fun, if you are a lady over 50 (or nearing 50) visit the Red Hat Society website. This is the place to go when you reach that point in your life where you have raised the kids (or not), retired or are thinking about it, have done your volunteer or charity work, or just want to escape. There’s a whirlwind of activity and virtually something for everyone once you find the right group for you. Just show up, in the proper attire (red hat/purple clothes or if you are under 50 pink hat/lavender cloths) and be willing to have fun. My group, the RHS Molls, began in 2001. I have served as queen for all that time since no one has been willing to take over that duty. It’s my escape and keeps me out of trouble.
We had a gathering of 100 queens and vice queens at the Ryde Hotel this afternoon. We energized our souls, shared our resources, laughed uproariously, rounded up new friends, amused the staff and left with bellies full from the awesome buffet. Just don’t tell anyone this queen made her speech notes on a toilet seat protector. What could be more appropriate? It goes right up there with making slippers out of sanitary napkins but that’s another red hat story.
Ha ha, fun!
